Broken Arrow has increased its design capacity and supercharged its brand on social media. “We recently started doing a media day, where I take videos and photos of the student-athletes. The students love the experience, and it gives me tons of really high-quality images to work with. I use these in all of our GameDays, but the motion and video graphics, in particular, have been a hit with our fans. More than that, our students feel like they’re being promoted like the pros, and we consistently receive praise from our stakeholders. With Gipper, we have been able to really engage our community on social media.”

Taking Graphic Design to the Next Level

Focused on providing its community with game and event information, Broken Arrow has taken its social media presence to the next level. Using Gipper, Wes Richardson has elevated Broken Arrow’s brand. With access to high-quality media day photos and videos, Wes is able to create incredibly eye-catching and engaging content. This enables Broken Arrow to raise the bar on social media, all while staying consistent with the program’s visual guidelines.

As the Sports Information Specialist at Broken Arrow High School, Wes has two main goals: promote every varsity event and highlight the student-athletes in all of their achievements. “Our goals for the BA Tigers social media are to inform the community - let everyone know what’s happening on campus and with our teams - and to promote our student-athletes. To do that, we share a pre-game and post-game graphic for every varsity event, both home and away.”

The Challenges

Too Much Content for One Designer

Creating content is a labor-intensive task regardless of background or training. Wes is trained in graphic design but still struggled to create enough content for the entire athletic program. “Even though I have experience in graphic design, it takes a long time to create a nice graphic. I could not make enough really high-quality content to cover every varsity team at Broken Arrow. Other administrators at Broken Arrow don’t have that same graphic design background, and because of that, all of the content creation would fall on me. I need to be able to create a high volume, and that just isn’t possible for one person to do starting from scratch.”

Gipper’s ease of use and flexibility allows all Broken Arrow Athletic staff members to help share their story. “In comparison to other design software, Gipper is so much easier to use - anyone can use it regardless of experience. We have other administrators in the Athletic Department using Gipper who have no design background whatsoever.” Wes now has the tools to not only create an abundance of professional-quality content but also to collaborate with his colleagues. “The whole department is able to stay more consistent and maintain our brand by collaborating on shared designs within the platform." "I can call the AD and ask him to open a shared, saved design on his phone and publish that graphic in real-time from an event when I am not able to. That has been a game-changer for us.”
