How Tri-County Academy uses Gipper Display and their on-campus screens to improve communication

Tri-County was already creating graphics and social posts in Gipper. To improve on-campus communication without adding more work, they added two TVs and began displaying rolling announcement slideshows with Gipper Display. Because everything is managed in the same platform, keeping content fresh takes just a couple of clicks.

About Tri-County Academy

Tri-County Academy is a K-12 private school of about 450 students on one campus in Flora, Mississippi. As a small school, their admin staff wear a lot of different hats. For three admin team members, one of those hats is updating their campus screens via Gipper Display:

  • Joshua Osborne: Elementary Principal & Boys Basketball Coah

  • Parker Harris: Assistant Athletic Director

  • Ashley Cerda: School Counselor

Gipper products used: Engage & Display

"My biggest question going into it: how quick and easy is it actually?

Because if something takes you 10 or 15 minutes to do, you're not going to do it very often.

Turns out Gipper Display is extremely quick and easy. It saves us a bunch of time and helps improve the flow of communication during the day. We're able to get a lot of information out across our screens, we can change the content easily, and it looks great.

All of that together for us was a no-brainer."

Before Gipper Display

Here's what they had in place:

No hallway screens, and no easy way to get info out during the day.
They wanted a centralized way to get information out to students on-campus.

A daily USB run to keep one locker room TV current.
Joshua used Gipper to make the graphic, put it on a USB stick, and walked it to the locker room every day. That was the path they had for one TV. It was not going to work for hallway screens the whole campus would see. They needed something they could update without a walk.

Tri-County was using Gipper to create graphics and share social media content.
What they did not have was a way to get that same content onto campus screens without the USB walk.

After Gipper Display

Tri-County has been using Gipper Engage to create graphics and share social media content for years. The school added Gipper Display to improve on-campus communication - and bought two hallway TVs to use with it.

Here's what changed:

They connected their two new TVs to Gipper Display instead of using a USB
One sits in the main-entrance hallway, past the trophy cases, next to the office, where every visitor and delivery walks in. The other sits in the high school common area that eight classrooms open into, so students see it all day.

Set up took a few minutes.
Tri-County was sent two Gipper media players. They plugged them into the TVs, connected them to Gipper, and were live.

Gipper Display lets more than one person update the screens.
Joshua, the athletic director, and the counselor each have access. The counselor posts academics and "things you need to know." The AD posts athletic content. Nobody has to wait on Joshua to publish content.

Updating fresh content on the TVs takes just seconds.
Gipper Display is designed for the busy administrator. That was key for Joshua and his colleagues. "You just go in there, click apply branding, add whatever you want, and then go - the content is live on the TVs"

The impact:

Improved communication, without the extra workload.
Students and staff actually stop to read the screens. Updates take seconds.

Academics are promoted the same way as athletics.
The counselor posts ACT Club, honor groups, and more (without it becoming more work for Joshua or his AD).

A new way to generate sponsor revenue.
A local tea shop originally sponsored Berean Christian through advertising on the gym video board. After adding Gipper Display, the school expanded the partnership to its campus TVs. The tea shop now runs student giveaways using QR codes displayed on screen, giving students an easy way to engage with the sponsor.

Me, our AD, and our counselor - we're all over the place all day, wearing a ton of different hats.

So, for us, being able to come in to Gipper Display in the mornings, click a couple things and be done: it's everything for us.

I'd 100% recommend this to other schools. It's worth every penny.
