Touch Case Studies Rolling Meadows High School, Illinois

How Rolling Meadows High School simplified updates, consolidated tools, and saved time by switching to Gipper Touch

Rolling Meadows was already using Gipper Engage to create graphics and manage social media, but relied on TouchPros for its touchscreen display. By switching to Gipper Touch, the school brought everything into one familiar platform, making it easier to manage and update its touchscreen - while saving valuable time.

About Rolling Meadows High School

Rolling Meadows High School is in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The school offers student-athletes a wide variety of opportunities across 32 boys' and girls' sports, with coaches and athletes working together to support a cohesive program.

Matt Mishler, Athletic Director, helps oversee scheduling, facilities, booster communications, coach support, and more. Jessie Bodel, Athletic and Student Programs Assistant, manages transportation, ordering, eligibility, purchasing, coaching communications, senior nights, and their touchscreen display.

"We were already using Gipper Engage for graphics, social media, and our digital programs. So then the idea of having that same system be able to be used to update our touchscreen display...to have one platform to create content and make updates, that was really compelling. It was a big part of the idea to switch."

Before Gipper Touch

Rolling Meadows had a touchscreen display, but the process for adding content in their vendor's sytem took more effort than they hoped for. The school was also using Gipper Engage every day for graphics and managing social media, while its touchscreen remained on a separate system - which meant another login and vendor to manage.

Here's what they had in place:

  • A time-consuming way to update content on their touchscreen display. Jessie had to search for students already in the system, add them, and move details around in a convoluted way.
  • A separate touchscreen display vendor. The school already used Gipper Engage for creating social media graphics and digital programs, but managed their touchscreen display through another vendor's system. This meant another login to remember and tab to go in and out of.
  • Seasonal recognition content with room to grow. Jessie added individual accolades and team pictures at the end of each season. She saw more ways to expand the experience when time allowed.

"The migration from our old vendor to Gipper Touch was perfect. Your team did the lion’s share of the work, which of course was great for us.

We just shared what we wanted to keep and everything was migrated over. The whole process was seamless."

After Gipper Touch

Rolling Meadows moved from TouchPros to Gipper Touch with Gipper handling the content migration. The touchscreen now lives on the same platform the school already knows through Gipper Engage, and Jessie has a simpler process for managing seasonal content.

Here's what changed:

  • A migration that took work off the team. Gipper reviewed the content on the former touchscreen and handled the migration for Rolling Meadows, so the team did not have to reproduce its existing content themselves.
  • Faster, easier updates. Gipper's intuitive visual editor makes it easy for Jessie to update touchscreen content, saving time and simplifying day-to-day management.
  • One platform for everything. Already using Gipper Engage daily for graphics, social media, and more, Rolling Meadows can now manage its touchscreen from the same familiar platform.
  • A touchscreen the community actually uses. Located in a main hallway outside the athletic office, the touchscreen attracts students daily, while parents and alumni use it to explore the school's athletic history.

What they showcase:

  • Homepage slideshow: When not in use, the touchscreen doubles as a digital signage display, rotating through announcements and graphics created in Gipper Engage. Because Touch and Engage work together, Rolling Meadows can easily repurpose existing content to keep students and visitors informed without creating extra work.
  • Athletes of the Week: Recognizing standout student-athletes and preserving past honorees for the school community to revisit.
  • Historic Team Photos: Archiving years of team photos, giving current students and alumni a way to look back on the school's athletic history.
  • Distinguished Alumni: Showcasing alumni profiles and celebrating their accomplishments beyond high school.
  • Activities, Accomplishments & Memories: Highlighting band, choir, jazz, and other student activities, alongside historic photos from school productions and events, preserving memories beyond athletics.

"Gipper Touch is very easy to use. When I do need to go in and make changes to the content on our display, it’s simple - it's actually much easier than the previous program that we were using. So I am really pleased about that."
